The Peabodyz and Friends

The Peabodyz are an active band (names in bold below) playing the bar circuit in the Dallas area.  I joined them in November to play a company party in January.  We were also joined by colleague Larry Permenter and ex-Peabodyz singer Gregg Willis.  These guys play classic, southern and modern rock and they rock baby!  I was honoured to join their ranks.  You never know, you might see me playing with them from time to time on their regular circuit ...

The party was held on 1/22/2003 at Lena's on the Lake (Bachman Lake) in Dallas.  It was a success although I think the patronage was a little unprepared for the volume!  The set list follows (we strayed a little from it for various reasons).  Brad had to leave after the regular set but Terry sat in on drums and we played on.  'Nough said about that I believe as it got a bit rough around the edges as we all tried to figure out what else we all knew.  And to think Larry swore he'd never be caught singing Play That Funky Music in public again (now why why did we stop filming before that little gem!!).

CyberStars/The Peabodyz - I Can't Explain
I Can't Explain

So I got to flex a bunch of new gear at a gig for the fist time as did Bruce.  The man has a habit of frying his Marshall's just prior to a gig as was the case this time on the last practice before 1/22.  Any excuse to buy a new amp I say.  Well he bought a nice Fender Deville 2x12.  I never thought I'd see Bruce playing through just 65 watts or a combo come to that but ouch that thing is loud.  And man, I thought that was Mark Knopfler himself up there on Sultans .
